The Four
Winged Robot has been invented by American scientist Leif Ristroph and his colleague
at New York University. This four winged robot has been designed by utilizing
the concept of Jellyfish.
Jellyfish moves in ocean pushing downward in the water similarly the four winged robot will move in the air.
"Our [robot] is an aerial jellyfish if you
will,""No one's ever built this, and as far as we know nature never
built it either to fly in air" told Mr. Ristroph.the concept of Jellyfish.
Jellyfish moves in ocean pushing downward in the water similarly the four winged robot will move in the air.
This four
winged robot can moves its wings up and downward 20 times in 1 minute and each
of the wings are four inches in length .This newly invented robot is of only
two (2) grams. There are specialized brain available in insect flies and this
brain control their steadiness. But this system is not available in the robot
like flies so Ristroph came to the resolution of making a four winged robot
so that they can manage their stability.
The
prototype of these flies still is in emerging phase. It has no external power
supply system and even it can’t steer it self. Yet Ristroph believed that its
simplicity and small shape will be helpful of designing future robot.
Ristroph
told about the mission of building this unique device. He affirmed that it will
be able to fly in every place and the most important thing is that it can give
footage and video record too."Ours is one of the simplest, in that it just uses flapping wings" told by Mr. Ristroph.
